A little about myself
I was Born and raised in Southeast Texas. I was an Air Force Wife for 12 years, my husband retired early as a Staff Sergeant in 1995....right after the first Gulf War. I am very simple, but at the same time quite complex. I love to laugh and I love making people laugh. A life without laughter would be intolerable to me. I love meeting different types of people. I respect all people and know that we are all different yet equal. I am not what I would like to be, but somehow I believe I am better than I think. I analyze almost everything internally. I try not to give too much energy to the mistakes I have made. I chalk them up to being human…and just plain ol’ stupid at times. You can’t live in the past or the future. You have to live in the present using the lessons learned from the past to help better yourself for the future. I have learned that with age comes wisdom, but not for everyone. I have learned that we are not entitled to much besides respect, tolerance, and decency. None of us are perfect - whether we think we are or not. I am opinionated and I am not longer ashamed of that fact. And yes, sometimes a little stubborn. Very few people really know what I am all about; the ones that do are very special to me. I love to write, although I question whether I do a “good job” at it. I love reading and learning about the human mind and how it works. It fascinates me. Last, but certainly not least, I love my husband and children more than life itself. My husband and I married August 25th 1984..I was 17 and he 19...this year will be our 25th anniversary. I am the mother of 4 teenagers. Being a mother has been the easiest, most natural, and most rewarding “job” in my life while at the same time the toughest and most challenging. My oldest son suffered a brain injury during birth. Diagnosis Moderate MR, Pervasive Developmental Disorder Not Otherwise Specified ( PDD NOS) which is in the Autism Spectrum. I am his caregiver and his biggest fan. I have been an Advocate for persons with disabilities for 19 years. I love animals… more than people a lot of the time. We have a lot of pets: a black lab 8 yrs old named Shadow, A Peekapoo 7 yrs her name is Joey, Two psycho cockatiels (Pete and Ollie), and a Russian Land Tortoise named Toby. I enjoy photography. I love reading Fiction and True Crime. When I do watch TV I like Forensics and Crime shows. I like medical shows especially if it is about the mind and mental illnesses and mystery diagnosis and Dr. G. I pretty much like all types of music with the exception of Rap. I tend to listen to Rock from the 70’s the most. Well I am finished boring you now. If you stop by I would appreciate if you take a moment to tell me a little about yourself.

Hi Monica, and welcome to blogland!! I'm Becky, and I want to thank you for being a follower of Holiday in the Sun! How did you find me? I'm always curious about that!
ReplyDeleteWe like some of the same things...crime shows, our fave is "24"..guess that's more espionage, and I love Dr. G, too!! She is the coroner in Orlando, about 50 minutes from me. She did the autopsy on little Caylee Anthony recently. Amazing lady, huh?
We're also pet lovers! We have a male bearded collie, a female rat terrier, and a male siamese.
Never a dull moment!! ;o)
Well, it's nice to meet you!! I look forward to getting to know you better!
Blessings,
Becky
Hey Becky!,
ReplyDeleteUp at the top where it says next blog...I clicked that and it took me to your blog. We did it Wednesday caught my eye...I love the hearts! My daughter and I are going to them this weekend.
She is 14 and is always making something.
I also noticed that you homeschool...my Niece wants to home school her children...they are just in the thinking about it stage...she has 2 girls ages 3yrs and 7 months. So I am just keeping my eyes open for other homeschoolers who may be able to answer any questions she may have.
I have another blog where I write about things going on in the world. Just a place where I can vent..I started it while we were evacuated for the hurricane in September and it has had almost 60,000 hits...I have done several posts about the Anthony case...The blog at times has kind of a sarcastic tone... so it's not for everyone.
This blog "The Greene House" will be much more peaceful and family oriented.
I really like your blog...we seem to have a lot in common.
Hi Monica,
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by my blog. I'm up in Dallas now, but was born and raised in and around Houston (so mostly southeast Texas). Sometimes I really miss the area, and we talk about moving back.
I look forward to following along and getting to know you!
Blessings,
Diana
