Rewind

I have wanted to sit down and write a little for quite some time but I must admit...I do not like being inside the house much in the summer months. When I am not running the kids and their friends back and forth to summer band practice...I am usually out and about with my camera in hand hoping to capture something unusual or beautiful. If I am really lucky...something unusually beautiful.

Since I have written very little this summer...I feel like I should rewind and pick up where I left off. I've been sitting here thinking ...how am I going to write this entire summer in one post? Then I remembered...I don't have to write it all in one post.

It is a stormy day here in S.E. Texas. Actually...it blew in rather suddenly and just a bit violently around 1:30 this afternoon. I love stormy weather...except when I have to drive in it. Today I was out in the worst of it.

Walking around in my backyard...basking in the calm after the storm makes it all worthwhile.

Photo's: Pink Angel Trumpet. I planted it almost 4 years ago and until this summer...it refused to bloom. I originally had it in a pot out on the deck as advised by a local nursery. Last fall I was tired of messing with it. It looked awful...and had not once bloomed. I told my husband...lets put it in the ground...and if it comes back next summer great....if not then oh well! Last winter was one of the coldest winters we have had in years...and by spring the angel trumpet looked GONE! We cut it to the ground...and much to my surprise...it came back and bloomed! Another surprise...all that time I thought it was a white angel trumpet....it is pink and smells heavenly!

  1. Hi Monica! How are you doing sweetie? Sure do love the photo of this trumpet flower! Especially with the little rain drops on it. And it is a lovely color, too.

My summer has just whizzed by!! It's all good though. I certainly can't complain!

My goal now is to just get my Etsy shop opened and established before the holidays!!
I am so excited I can hardly stand it!!

Hope your week is off to a great start!!
Keep posting, gal! I'll be here to visit!!
    Love you,
    Becky

  2. Hey Becky...I am doing well. We didn't do anything big this summer...but I have enjoyed it and it has flown by. Next week school starts and I will be keeping my 2 year old great niece. I've missed her this summer!
I tell ya...that little girl brings me a lot of joy. I don't know what it is like to be a grandma yet...but judging how I feel about her...I think I have a pretty good idea.

Hope you are having a great week too!

  3. What beautiful photos! It's understandable to not want to be inside for summer. It's been so hot here it's been hard to be outside though!

    Lots of yummy love,

  4. Hello dear Monica,
It is so great to be able to visit you, I adore your angel trumpet plant. I have a yellow one and it took a few years for it to bloom too, but was worth the wait. I didn't know they had a fragrance, when mine blooms in a few weeks I will certainly check it out.
I am like you I love to be outside, looking for things to photograph, and working in my garden. It has indeed been a fast summer, and I am now looking forward to fall and cooler weather. Enjoy your day, and thank you so much for coming by and for taking the time to leave me such a sweet comment.
    Hugs,
    Sue

  5. What a sweet (and hardy) little plant. Look at those delicate pink leaves! I love stories like these. So many times I have tried and tried, and (essentially given up) only to be surprised with lovely little flowers.
