Happy Birthday Shelby!

We Did It! Wednesday
I thought I would share our weekend for We Did It Wednesday....
Friday was a pretty typical day...I took my son to lunch. Since he has been in college it has been a little hard to get our one on one time together...so Friday afternoons is our time to talk and of course EAT. We both looked forward to this lunch all week because of the menu....Oh yes...it is that time once again
MUDBUGS!...CRAWFISH!....YUM,YUM, YUMMY!

As soon as we finished...I rushed home to do some chores and then shopping to prepare for the event of the weekend! Today is my daughters (the baby) 15th birthday. But we had her party on Saturday. It was truly a wonderful day...fun and relaxing. She had a lot of her friends for a cookout and then her girlfriends stayed for a sleepover.
The DAD (aka the burger king) was working the grill.

While the kids worked on the decorations...or played with the helium tank!

They love that Guitar Hero and Rock Band!

And of course the PURPLE cake....Her entire room is purple...the boys call it "the explosion in the pepto plant" The girl will no doubt live in a purple house when she grows up.

You Will Always Be My Baby Girl....Be strong. Be intelligent. Smile. Know that beauty has everything to do with how you feel about yourself and nothing to do with looks or other people's opinions. Never do anything just because everyone else is if you believe it's wrong. Always be true to yourself. Expect the best from life and that's what you'll get. Learn from your mistakes and failures. Believe in magic and wish on stars. Love and trust and be compassionate. Make faces. Play in mud puddles. Take bubble baths. Turn off all the lights and watch lightning storms. Dance, laugh, cry, and sing when you want to. Read everything you can get your hands on. Stand up for what is right especially if you stand alone. Don't allow yourself or people around you to tolerate prejudices of any kind. Don't be afraid to try something new. Do something daring at least once a week. Run through snow drifts. Spin in circles and roll down hills. Pet puppies, hold kittens, and talk to babies. Take afternoon naps. Stay up to watch the sunrise. Never apologize for being a woman or for being yourself. Never forget that I love you more than any other person in the world, no matter how far apart we are you will always be my daughter.

Happy Birthday Shelby...we love you!!

  2. Oh, Monica - I went through about 15 different emotions reading this post! LOL

Envy over your crawfish probably topped the list, but mostly it was happiness and satisfaction; the party looked like so much fun and your daughter is beautiful.

I love Silly String myself...I wish I could have been there!

  3. Oh yes Sandra..it goes by way too fast. I am glad they are growing up...yet on the other hand sometimes my heart aches for those days of the past. My mom and I watched video's of my kids the other night and they were SO cute!

  4. Hey Jan,

Thanks...we think she is beautiful too. She is such a sweet girl. I remember myself at that age and she is so much more laid back that I was.
She isn't in a aweful rush to grow up...she still plays, giggles and is enjoying her chidhood. I am so glad.

The crawfish were good...but it is still pretty early in the season so they were kinda small and a little expensive. But we still enjoyed them...and I enjoyed the time with my boy.

Oh gosh the silly string was everywhere LOL It was so funny.

  5. Hey Josie,

It was a lot of fun! I just had a look at your profile and will be paying your blog a visit. Your daughter Ray Ray is so cute! Seems like just yesterday my little girl was a baby.
I've been to Utah once SLC...We drove through there on our way to Seattle airport...headed to Anchorage Alaska. We didn't stay long but I hope to go back someday. I did get to see the Morman Temple...and the beautiful Catholic church around the corner.

I am so glad to meet you and hope we can get to know each other better!
