In Need Of Prayers

As most of you know my friend Marlaina had emergency surgery a little more than a week ago to remove an enormous cyst from her ovary. Thanks to the Lord and the many prayers that were said for her quick recovery....she came through the surgery, and returned to work yesterday. My friend is again in need of your prayers...at 9am this morning Marley's husband Joe was on his way home from work and was involved in a terrible motorcycle accident. Someone in a van ran a stop sign and rather than be hit...Joe took his bike down. I truly believe that this saved his life...however his body was then tossed along the asphalt road. It took the skin off of quite a bit of his body. Currently he is still in the trauma unit and is in a great deal of pain. They have been giving him morphine but he is still hurting very badly. Once you scrape off that much skin...the nerves are exposed. They also found some blood in his urine so we are waiting to hear the results of his scans and blood work. Please pray for my friends...they both work so hard and have been through so much lately.

Update On Marly

Well...my dear Marly made it through surgery just fine. It turned out to be an enormous ovarian cyst. She was in surgery for over 3 hours...and do you know they sent her home that very night? After the care she received in the hospital...I think she was probably more than happy to go home. But that is a story for another time. It was just another one of those many 'female things' we ladies go through...as if 30+ years of menstruating, cramping, bloating, and giving birth is not enough! But I guess that is just part of getting older. Marly and I often joke about how it seems like once you hit 40...its like your parts start to wear out....and there is no guarantee or warranty. Just a few months ago I was teasing my husband about having to hold the news paper so far from his face...and it wasn't that long ago that Marly and I giggled as we watched her husband using his computer with his glasses down at the end of his nose. Now Marly has glasses... and do you know I caught myself squinting to read a recipe this weekend?! I'm certain that this is only the beginning of the many changes to come....but the journey is so much better with Marly by my side.

"When we honestly ask ourselves which person in our lives mean the most to us, we often find that it is those who, instead of giving advice, solutions, or cures, have chosen rather to share our pain and touch our wounds with a warm and tender hand. The friend who can be silent with us in a moment of despair or confusion, who can stay with us in an hour of grief and bereavement, who can tolerate not knowing, not curing, not healing and face with us the reality of our powerlessness, that is a friend who cares." ~Henri Nouwen

There is no medicine stronger than prayer...and I would like to thank everyone who prayed for Marlaina during this frightening ordeal. You are greatly appreciated!

Please Pray For My Friend

My friend Marlaina (Marly) will be having surgery today at noon. If you wouldn't mind...I would sure appreciate it if you would take a moment to say a little prayer...please pray that the lord will guide the surgeons hands, that all will go well and for a quick recovery. Marly and I have been friends for well over 30 years and I just love her to pieces! Thank you so much!
